One of the great parts about visiting or living on the east coast is that the public transportation options are many, and this holds true for those who live in and visit Lynn, Massachusetts. This town is nearby to Boston, so it has many buses that run to and from this major city on a regular basis. In fact, many people in the area use buses more than cars to get around quickly and easily. Here is some information so that you can find out more about public transportation in the Lynn area.
Nearest Airport: Boston Logan International Airport
This enormous international airport is estimated to be the 12th busiest in the United States for international traffic. It’s just a short drive from Lynn and is the easiest way to fly into the city.
Bus Stops: Greater Boston Newburyport/Rockport Line
This bus system is owned and operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and it has one stop in the center of Lynn on the way into and out of Boston. The line runs from the Boston, MA bus station on the north side of town all the way to Rockport or Newburyport, and Lynn is the third stop on the bus line.
Major Roadways: U.S. Route 1; Interstate 95/Route 128; Route 1A; Route 107; Route 129; Route 129 A
All of these roads pass through Lynn, Massachusetts, but there aren’t any major, full highways in town. Instead, the roads peter down to straight, smaller roads inside town and then pick up again as highways outside of town. Still, the roads make it convenient to get to any of the greater Boston area town without too much trouble.
Taxi Services: Route Logic, Transportation of New England, and North Short Shuttle
These are the most commonly used taxi and shuttle services in town. They offer transportation mainly to and from the airport, but they can also take you to other areas in town. Of course, taxis are more common in the downtown Boston area, so it’s not a problem to hop on a taxi in the downtown area to come to Lynn once you get off a bus or airplane.
Other options for getting around town include renting a car or driving your own car. Though the downtown area is busy, many Lynn residents do keep their own cars, and many apartment and condominium buildings offer parking for residents.
