– Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) and Northeast Legal Aid are partnering to provide a four-part speaker series entitled, “Know Your Rights!” Topics include Debt Collection, an Overview of Landlord-Tenant Law, Guardianship, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. The speaker series will take place on Friday afternoons in the Lynn Senior Center, 8 Silsbee Street in Lynn, from 3:00-4:00 p.m., on the following dates: June 29, July 20, August 17, and September 21, 2018. The first in the series will take place on Friday, June 29. Northeast Legal Aid Attorney Michael Weinhold will provide an informational presentation on the legal issues regarding debt collection in Massachusetts. The presentation will provide information regarding your legal rights if you are sued on a debt and do not have the money to pay. He will also provide information on what to expect if you are sued in Small Claims Court by a debt collector in Massachusetts.
The series will continue on Friday, July 20, when Attorney Laura Gallant will present an overview of landlord-tenant law. The third in the series will take place on Friday, August 17, when Attorney John Ford will speak on the topic of guardianship, or the process by which the court appoints an individual to be legally responsible for the care of someone who is unable to manage their own affairs. The final event will take place on Friday, September 21, with Attorney Geoffrey Ketcham presenting about the legal and other issues involved when grandparents find themselves in the role of raising their grandchildren.
